Tom Peters Made Quite an Impact on Me!

July 19, 2008 by speedy · Leave a Comment

Back in 1985 I discovered Hana Maui and Tom Peters, the famous maniacal customer service fanatic. Hana Maui was instrumental in pushing me across the entrepreneurial starting line because I was willing to risk it all to be able to afford more visits to Hana. Tom Peters sermons were instrumental in insuring my computer wholesale company ran circles around he competitors when it came to service. The combination was powerful.

My business, started with 2 cash advances on credit cards, took off and did well over $3 million in revenue in 1986. Of course, margins were low and net profits were slim, but the bills were paid and we were on our way.

A few minutes ago I ran across Tom Peter’s Wow! Website and I encourage you to visit his site to try and pickup what you can about the importance of impressing or “wowing” customers. He hit the nail on the head back in the early 80’s and nothing has changed. The easiest way to grow your business and gain market share is by blowing customers away with unique excellent customer service.

You can find Tom Peter’s site here at the page nearest to my heart: Tom Peters - In Search of Excellence. Thank you Tom!

Excellent service is offered by few, but there are very few among us that don’t want it every time we conduct business.

We’ll be back later with more information about how we’re going to attack this widening gap between the supply and demand for excellent service.
